Writer / Director James Hughes had always expressed concerns over the environmental damage being done by mankind.
Yet of parallel importance was the desire to use the short film format as a tool for invention, and an expression of artistic styles.
Combining the two, he began work on The Velvet Abstract. The sheer scale, logistics, and cost of such a production went beyond any he had encountered before.
But the opportunity to work with some of the finest artists in the world, and showcase their work to audiences, made for a challenge he relished.
Starting initially with just a one page poem, he brought the production to six continents.
James also worked on the film as its Cinematographer and Executive Producer.
